I had the good fortune of spending time today with a master of his craft, stained glass artist Bill Darwin Jr. Aside from his skill in the design and execution of stained glass for churches, community buildings and homes and the restoration and repair of antique slot machines, Billy D is unmatched at the grill, a creative and crafty card and billiard player, and the chairman of the Waterloo Croquet Club (as well as it's head groundskeeper). Multi-talented and always fun to be around, Bill is one helluva nice guy and I'm lucky to be his friend.
Pictured above is ( looking from the top down ) a bad photo of an 8-panel window Bill is currently finishing for Madonna University in Livonia. It will serve as a backdrop to a crucifix that will be suspended from the ceiling in front of this window. When the window is in place it it will span and area of 12' x 21'. This photo was taken in his studio with the window(s) laying flat on a work surface.
