Every April Mr. B (Mark Lincoln Braun) hosts a piano throw-down featuring himself and others of his ilk. This year's show features Mark, Al Hill, Bill Heid and Bob Seeley. Paul Keller and Leonard King will accompany each act (barring Seeley) on bass and drums, respectively. 3x3+1: 3 trios and 1 soloist. Bob Seeley will be the only 88-year-old on the bill, and coincidentally, that's the number of keys on your regulation piano. Get it? These posters, the fruit of our labors, will be on sale at the show. 12" x 18", 2-color letterpress printed on French Muscletone paper.
Poster design for piano impresario Mark Lincoln Braun (Mr.B). Each year he hosts blues and boogie boogie piano talent for a weekend of world class music. Friday April 22 at the Detroit Institute of Arts, Saturday April 23 at The Ark in Ann Arbor. This year's lineup features Bob Seeley, Chris Codish and Robert Moore. The Detroit-based talent pool inspired this year's poster design. These hand-printed posters will be for sale at both events.
Are good registration and consistent ink coverage imperative for a successful promotional postcard? Hope not. Time will tell. Printed 600 of these and have been sending them across the nation in an effort to garner illustration work. And by the way, this is a rebus. And the E is red. And that's an international symbol for work on the right. Are those enough hints?
Getting a bit funky with the block printing of self-promos. Should I spend a bunch of money with Modern Postcard, or spend a bunch of time making them myself? Hmmmm... this time we'll go with the homemade remedy. The registration is a bit off, the impressions can be inconsistent, but it sure is fun filling up every flat surface in the workspace with these.
